DCU Language Services has a team of committed staff who will ensure your experience at Dublin City University is academically enriching and enjoyable.

Mr Cathal Maye

Chief Executive Officer

Cathal joined Dublin City University Language Services as Chief Executive in 2007. With a background in management from a number of different industries, Cathal brings a wealth of experience to the DCU Language Services team. Cathal's primary responsibility is to ensure the smooth running DCU Language School and to develop new partnerships with universities and groups from around the world.

Ms Laura Gormley

Director of Studies

Laura is Director of Studies at the school. She has postgraduate qualifications in The Advanced Study of Education (University of Liverpool), Teaching English as a Foreign Language (University of Cambridge) and a Masters’ degree in Social Sciences (National University of Ireland). She has been involved in English Language Education for over 20 years and has worked as a Cambridge ESOL Examiner and Exam Team Leader for much of this time. Laura enjoys Argentinian tango, hill-walking and the theatre.

Ms Niamh O’Mahony

Head of Business Development 

Niamh is Head of Business Development and leads the busy Sales and Marketing team. Niamh has a Masters in Work and Organisational Psychology from DCU, so is well placed to promote the quality programmes that the university has to offer. As part of her position, Niamh travels all over the world to promote language programmes at DCU. Her interests include travel, yoga and reading.

Mr Niall Martin

Sales Manager

Niall is Sales Manager at DCU Language Services. His role is to facilitate incoming students to English courses at DCU, and helps students from around the world to come to DCU. Having studied Law at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, Niall has also completed a Masters in Business Management at UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School. Outside of work Niall enjoys walking his dogs, sailing, and playing rugby for his local team.

Ms Shima Yamanaka

Student Welfare Officer & Services Coordinator

Shima works as Student Welfare Officer at DCU Language Services. She is the first person you will meet when you arrive at DCU, and during your studies here is always available to help with student questions and to provide advice. Shima is from Japan and has been living in Ireland for almost ten years. She loves meeting people from different countries and learning about their culture (especially the food)!

Ms Nina Sherlock

Language Training Coordinator

Nina works as the Language Training Coordinator at DCU Language Services. She is a graduate of Social Science from University College Dublin and has several years' experience working as a coordinator. Nina is here to help with all queries or administrative issues you might have. In her spare time Nina loves reading and walking. She also particularly enjoys learning new languages.

Ms Cathy Mullen

Business Services Coordinator

As Business Services Coordinator, Cathy leads the accommodation team. She has been with DCU for 2 years. She has a Business Degree and a Masters Degree in marketing from the University of Ulster. She has spent many years living and working in Asia so is familiar with the challenges newcomers to a country face and is happy to help our students feel welcome in Dublin. In her spare time, she enjoys swimming, travel and spending time with friends and family.

Ms Dimitra Stefanopoulos

Registration Officer

Dimitra's role is to assist junior and adult international students with their course, ensuring that each student experiences learning and Irish life uniquely during their stay. She is a graduate of Arts from the University of Aberdeen and holds an MLitt in History of Design from the University of Glasgow. She is also a holder of the Advanced Diploma in TESOL, has taught English in Ireland and abroad. Dimitra has also worked as a Cambridge ESOL examiner and a researcher in History of Education. She finds working with students a productive and fulfilling experience. Outside work she likes reading books, going to the cinema and singing.

Ms Claire Fitzgerald

Academic Coordinator

Claire has worked as an EFL teacher at DCU LS for over three years, and has recently joined the academic team as Academic Coordinator. She is particularly interested in professional development for teachers and technology in language teaching. She holds a Master’s degree in Second Language Studies, a Cambridge post-graduate qualification in Teaching English as a Foreign Language and a BSc degree in Computer Science. In her free time she enjoys singing and playing music, sean-nós dancing and gardening.

Ms Tanja Arnhold

Operations Coordinator

Tanja is the School Operations Coordinator at DCU Language Services and works closely with the School Operations Manager and the teachers to offer a great experience for our students. She has an ACELS approved TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) qualification and a Masters in Education. Tanja is passionate about education, development and teaching. She has worked in this area for a number of years and has vast experience teaching English, conducting corporate training and coaching and she is also a qualified Life and Career Coach. In her spare time she enjoys Pilatus, walking and going to the cinema.

Ms Ruth McNamara

School Operations Manager

Ruth has over fifteen years teaching and academic coordination experience acquired both in Ireland and abroad. She holds a BA and an MA in English Language and Literature from University College Dublin. She also holds a post- graduate teaching certificate from Cambridge University. Ruth is a certified speaking examiner for the Cambridge ESOL examinations. Ruth enjoys travelling and spending time with her family.

Ms Radhika Iyer-O'Sullivan

Director of Studies - Junior Programmes

​​Radhika is the Director of Studies - Junior Programmes and has over 25 years of experience in designing, managing and teaching ESL, EFL, EAP, and teacher training courses in Malaysia, Dubai, and Ireland. She has a B.Ed TESL (University of Exeter), an M.ED in Professional Development (Deakin University, Australia) and a PG Cert in Mentoring and Coaching (University of Nottingham). Radhika enjoys dancing and spending time with her family in her free time.
