The GPO was the starting point of the 1916 Easter Rising and Irish Independence.  Visiting this place is a must if you want to learn more about Irish History.  The structure is over 100 years old and gives a wonderful insight into the fabric of Ireland as a Republic,  giving a good overview of the situation before 1916 and the events and reasons that led up to the rebellion.

After the exhibition, you can relax in the cosy coffee store overlooking the courtyard.
